A LITTLE ACS XC HISTORY

Carey Crooker has qualified for the NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championship Meet for a fifth consecutive year. Carey has extended our streak of qualifying an athlete, or a team, for this meet to seventeen years. We are doing something right.

This will be my third time coaching a State Meet at Sunken Meadow State Park. In 1992, Jennifer Balch became the first Addison female to qualify for the State Meet in any sport. Jennifer is currently a law enforcement officer in Georgia. In 2002, our boys team finished in 2nd place. That team consisted of; Bryan Morseman, Branden Morseman, Michael Thompson, Jereme Bottom, Dan Dart, Brett Hale, and Ryan MacDonald.

My sophomore year at East Aurora--we won a NYS State title in a foot of snow at a golf course in Malone NY. We qualified for the NYS Federation Meet where our team finished in 5th place. The meet took place on Long Island--Sunken Meadow State Park!

2008 SECTIONAL RESULTS

Here you go:

http://innovative-edge-sports.com/_wsn/page18.html

SECTIONALS 2008

We are still waiting on the results to be posted on line. There were some EXCELLENT performances turned in on Saturday.

The girls squad finished in SECOND place in Class DD. I guess that was the big surprise of the day. Carey Crooker has qualified for a 5th trip to the New York State Championships.

Carey worked extremely hard in the off season--and during the season. Her hard work paid off in her best race of the season. I think all of us could learn something from Carey's dedication, work ethic, values, and commitment to the team. Hard work and sacrifice do pay off.

I will post results here as soon as I find them on line. The boys finished in 5th place in the Class DD race.

THE GREAT RIDDLE

Riddle me this:

The boys run with guts on Wednesday and knock off Campbell-Savona. The team only loses to Arkport by one point. You would think people would be fired up for the County Championship Meet. You would think the seniors would be ESPECIALLY fired up for an upset victory this coming Friday

Here's the riddle part. I haven't seen one particular senior for practice or meets since Wednesday. Are you kidding me? Where did he go? Is he still on the team? No phone calls, no e-mails...nothing. Somebody help me out with this riddle.

TECHNOLOGY ALERT

I feel dizzy...what's going on? I am having trouble seeing, please help.

I just looked up my symptoms on line (webmd.com)--it looks like a case of technology shock. Mrs. Lyons and I just ordered cell phones...

PRACTICE TIME: 7PM

DAY FOUR

A nice recovery run today. We go back to work tomorrow.

  • Ribble and Lee took a wrong turn today and ended up going 7 miles.
  • Cassie and Marissa ran this morning at the rodeo.
  • More schedule changes...another Invite was canceled.
SATURDAY PRACTICE: I will hold practice on Saturday for those who have missed several days. I will talk to those athletes personally.

DAY THREE

Another nice practice. It was nice to see some new faces at our Middle School XC Camp.

The big kids ran FIVE miles today. With the fourth mile being straight up hill. An excellent workout.

PARENTS: Check this site often. I will post a great deal of relevant information on this site. It is a great deal of work for me, but our kids do not always let us know what is going on.

DAY TWO

Another nice practice today. Sam and Ike bolted on us without letting me know they would be gone for the entire week. HERE IS THE DEAL: you must have ten(10) practices in before our first meet or you cannot score for us. Because there are only fourteen practices before our first meet--there is not a lot of room for error.

SCHEDULE: I will hand out our 2008 XC schedule, and the code of conduct form, tomorrow at practice. Changes in the schedule this year include; no Weedsport Invite--cancelled, no Byron-Bergen--we are going to Windsor instead, no Elmira--we are going to Franklinville.

TOMORROW: Tomorrow we will explore the new Great Eastern Trail that runs through the Pinnacle State Park. Wouldn't it be col if we ran ALL the way to Cowanesque Lake for a picnic? Maybe a bus could pick us up and bring us back.

FRIENDLY 5k: We will jog this 'scrimmage' on the 28th, and save our legs for the annual Two Mile Time Trot the next day.

SEASON BEGINS

HELLO AMERICANS! Thank you for a GREAT first day of practice. Both teams had an excellent turn out.

  • Scotty Yeaples and Clyde Carey biked to practice, now THAT is dedication. Many kids will make excuses for missing practice--not these two.
  • Cady Smith makes her debut on the cross country team. She should help us a great deal.

WEDNESDAY RUN

Our next Wednesday run will be held in Elmira NY. We will meet at the West Elmira town Hall--across from the Hendy School. Carey Crooker was the only Addison athlete to show up for our run at the Pinnacle last Wednesday evening.

Brenna Lyons ran a 23:45 for a 5k recently in Eat Aurora.

COMMUNICATION

I sent out over FIFTY informational letters in late June. I asked that each athlete respond by e-mail to me. I need all of your e-mail addresses and your (or your parents) cell phone numbers. To date, exactly three athletes have responded to my request. Not one single senior, male or female, has contacted me about the upcoming season. Not one senior has offered to help out this summer. Not one senior has responded to my informational letter. I find this extremely disappointing.

PINNACLE RUN

I will be hosting a 3.25 mile trail run at the Pinnacle tomorrow night (Wednesday). The run will begin at 4:30pm. Please pass the word.
